Joanne maintained a 33 year career in the Financial Services Industry in Leadership at the branch, area and the north Atlantic state level, developing, coaching and leading teams in regional sales. Upon her retirement she held the position of Service Director for Connecticut and Northern New York where she was responsible for the service delivery and overall branch operations throughout the area network.
 
Joanne joined Rotary in the 1990's but due to work conflicts and a relocation of her area of responsibility to New Haven, Joanne terminated her membership at that time. She was always aware of the wonderful work that Rotary continued to do in the District because of the relationships that she maintained with Rotary members.  In December of 2008, after retiring, she re-joined the Rotary Club of Southington under the classification of Real Estate Sales.
 
During her time in Rotary, Joanne has served as the President of the club in 2013-2014 during that year the club was able to earn the Rotary Citation with Distinction.  She has served on the Board of Directors as the Club Administration Chair overseeing several different committees for the last 5 years.  Joanne has led the Rotary Club in two large projects that have helped the lives of those in need in the Southington community.  She is currently working on the committee to re-build a playscape for children, which will be re-named the Rotary Playscape She was named Rotarian of the Year in 2014-15, received the President's Award of Excellence in 2016-17, named as a Paul Harris Fellow by the club in 2016.  She was presented with the Service Above Self Award in 2017-18. Joanne was named the Assistant Governor for Area 10 in District 7890 for 2018-2020.  She has served as a delegate on the District Nominating Committee for 3 years, is a member of the District 7890 Addiction Task Force and is the District Governor Nominee  for 2021-2022.  Joanne has maintained the role of Assistant Governor (2018-2019) and District Governor Nominee simultaneously.
 
Joanne was the recipient of the Community Spirit Award from the Southington Chamber of Commerce in 2017 and in 2019 was awarded and named a member of the Leading Ladies, a group that honors women for their volunteerism and community work, affiliated with the Main Street Foundation.  Joanne is an officer in the Village of Plantsville Association, where she has worked for over 30 years on Christmas in the Village and Halloween in the Village and is an organizer and steering member of The White Christmas in the Community event.  Both of these organizations provide fun-filled, free community events for the children and families in the local area.   
 
Joanne is married to Tom Alfieri.  They have 3 children and 8 grandchildren.
