Jon grew up in the Windsor area and graduated from Windsor High School in 1964. He then went to Central Missouri State University and received a BA in Law Enforcement in 1968. After graduating from Central Missouri he embarked on a career in law enforcement for the next 20 years, including a stint as Chief of Police in Ludlow, Vermont for three and a half years and six and a half years as the criminal investigator for the Windsor County States Attorney's Office. While at the State's Attorney's office he attended Vermont Law School and graduated in 1987. He started practicing law in 1988 and has been in solo practice in Windsor since 1993.

Jon first became involved in Rotary in 1974 when he joined the Ludlow Rotary Club. He left that club in 1976 when a career move took him away from Ludlow and traveling on the road as a consultant for the Vermont Chiefs of Police Association for the next six years. He joined the Windsor Rotary Club in 1993. He served as President of the club in 1996-1997 and as club treasurer from 1999 to 2006. Since 1999 he has served as chairman of the annual Penny Sale and since 2001 has served as chairman of the annual Memorial Golf Tournament. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Rotary Club either as an officer or member-at-large since 1995. He is a Paul Harris Fellow plus one.

Jon and his wife Mary live in Reading, Vermont where Jon has been active in local government for the past thirty four years. He has served six years on the Board of Selectmen, twenty eitght years as Town and School District moderator, thirty four years on the Board of Civil Authority and twenty nine years as a Justice of the Peace. 

Jon and his wife have three children, five grandchildren and two great grandsons. His hobbies include hunting, reading and puttering around the property.
